Wind players are to follow 1st  round articulation and octave requirements.

 

Rhythm players should play all scales two octaves. The chromatic scale should be played two octaves on bass and guitar from low E upward. The piano is to play two octaves starting on any pitch.

 

Prepared Material (Wind Section)

 

All audition material can be found in the Jazz Conception series by Jim Snidero, published by Advance Music.  There are individual books, which include the CD for each instrument.  Alto and baritone saxophone are one book, and tenor saxophone is a separate book.  Students must perform audition material with the CD accompaniment.  The judging panel will provide CD and sound system.  These are available from most music suppliers or the following companies:
